==== Media Lab Access Policy ==== Students in related classes and the animation emphasis are issued a Storytelling Lab Card at the start of the semester. They can use this to bump students from other classes. They post their card at the top of one of their monitors so other students to try to bump them. The card changes every semester. I would add: One of the open lab machines is open to any student anytime and students using that machine can ignore students with Storytelling Lab Cards. Online scheduling is set up for the demo room for any student to book it for 1 hour at a time. Our vote: put up the sign, see what happens, if there is a problem, quickly implement the card rules. Test in spring to see what happens Mark: move toward an on-line registration system for fall if we have an issue in the Spring/Summer. Gordon: Post sign on Media lab stating purpose and restriction. Lab reserved for folks working on projects for graphics and animation. ==== Open Lab Usage Monitoring ==== We need to understand how our open labs are being used, and more importantly, be able to discuss current and future demands on our open lab resources. We also need to ability to monitor usage in our special purpose labs like 1106. It would be ideal if we could collect:
What is already being gathered? Most of it is already gathered. Many open source tools. NRTG. What's easy? Klark: Reserve 20 minutes for demo on what we have by next week. ====Committee Direction==== Review discussion and focus ====State of the Union Address: Computing Facilities==== We need to report to faculty what we are doing on the computing committee. How are we using our time and efforts? What are we trying to accomplish? ====SVN Servers==== |
